BIRDEM Officers’ Canteen Now Open for Doctors till 9:00 PM
We are pleased to announce that the BIRDEM Officers’ Canteen has officially opened and is now fully operational. The canteen will serve doctors and officers every day until 9:00 PM (21:00 hours), ensuring convenient access to meals and refreshments.
All doctors are warmly invited to make use of this facility.
BOWA Obhishek of Executive Committee 2025 & Cultural Programme
he Obhishek of the newly elected BOWA Executive Committee 2025-2027 was successfully held on 28th August 2025. Members, doctors, and distinguished guests attended the program with great enthusiasm.
The event was followed by a delightful Cultural Programme, where participants and families showcased their talents, making the evening enjoyable and memorable for everyone present.
World Diabetes Day Observed at BIRDEM
World Diabetes Day 2025 was observed at BIRDEM on 14th November 2025 with due significance. Doctors, officers, and staff actively participated in various programs aimed at raising awareness about diabetes prevention, control, and care.
The observance highlighted BIRDEM’s long-standing leadership in diabetes management and reaffirmed our commitment to patient welfare and community health.

Prof. Dr. Md. Ibrahim, the founder of BIRDEM and the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, was a pioneer in establishing modern diabetes care in the country. Through his dedication, he created a comprehensive system of prevention, treatment, and research that continues to benefit millions.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim (1911-1989) was a visionary physician and humanitarian who transformed diabetes care in Bangladesh. As founder of BIRDEM and the Diabetic Association, he pioneered a unique socio-medical model ensuring free treatment for the poor, while advancing research, education, and public health. His legacy continues to inspire compassionate healthcare across the nation.
